Design Expertise as a Site of Intervention
Chapter 5 studies what I term “epistemic activism,” or activism that occurs within academic fields to shape social norms and practices. Specifically, this chapter shows how architects were enacting epistemic activism within the profession around issues of disability access while protesters were doing the same in more public forums.
Minnesota Scholarship Online requires a subscription or purchase to access the full text of books within the service. Public users can however freely search the site and view the abstracts and keywords for each book and chapter.
