Targeting Iraq’s Water
In the first Iraq War, the U.S. military targeted water treatment plants in contravention of the Geneva Principles. After the second Iraq War, the U.S. began providing funding to rebuild damaged infrastructure, but with the mandate that water resources must be privatized, which has only contributed to increasing instability in the region.
