Transnational Surrogacy and the Neoliberal Mother India
This chapter discusses the concept of new eugenics—innovations such as gene therapies and new reproductive technologies. Even though the services that new eugenic technologies is dependent on the people’s choice, and not mandatory, this choice is associated with the market; thus, related to the imbrications of nationalist feminism, imperialism, and developmentalism. The subaltern new eugenic discourse obsessively sought to manage and abject the national and reproductive politics. It also supported the project of reproductive futurity on which the progress of new eugenic feminism depends.
