Chapter 6 analyzes distinct examples to illustrate multiple sites of transnational political engagements including specific forms of economic transnationalism emerging from the professional and entrepreneurial segments of the community. Analyzing the case studies of Indian American mobilizing in favor of India-U.S. Civil Nuclear Deal in 2006 and mobilizations within Indian American community on the issue of Hindu nationalist politics, the chapter argues that the community uses these issues not only with the intention to intervene in home country issues but also to enhance their political efficacy as a minority group in U.S. politics. Furthermore, the transnational political engagements of the community are deeply linked to the internal cleavages that challenge the idea of a unified diaspora.
