Between Derrida and Agamben
Between Derrida and Agamben
This chapter describes the relation between Jacques Derrida and Giorgio Agamben’s theories on the deconstruction of presence. It discusses Agamben’s writings about the metaphysics of presence and logocentrism. Derrida and Agamben’s take on law and language, and silence and power relates to a singularity that separates the project of deconstruction and perspective of biopolitics from the boundaries of the political to a reflection on the ethical. The chapter concludes with an analysis of the relevant points of convergence and divergence between the deconstruction of presence from the perspective of the analytics of power.
