From Genes to Memes: Ollivier Dyens and the Scientific Posthumanism of Darwinian Evolution
Chapter 1 reads the concept of “cultural bodies” described in the work of Ollivier Dyens, which extrapolates Richard Dawkins's “selfish gene” argument. After uncovering a looming tautology that Dyens's work avoids only through assigning a certain truth value to scientific knowledge, this chapter asks what privilege there is to scientific knowledge and how this privilege is written into Dyen's technological posthumanism.
