Abstract

Using the work of Alain Badiou, Gilles Deleuze and Jacques Derrida, “In Motion, At Rest: The Event of the Athletic Body,” explores three events in sport: Ron Artest in basketball and Eric Cantona and Zinedine Zidane in football (soccer). The sports event, “In Motion” argues, reveals the ways in which the intensity and opacity of the event is most visible in sport.
