This chapter examines how the Quay Brothers embraced postmodernism by integrating New Expressionism into their feature films Institute Benjamenta (1995) and The Piano Tuner of EarthQuakes (2005). Some of the postmodernistic styles that they have used include magic realism and neo-baroque. Magic realism is an artistic style that accepts that there is magic in a rational world. Neo-baroque is an artistic style that dwells on illusionism and the questionable nature of “reality.”
